BC Monthly Real GDP Estimate for February 2026 & Preliminary Estimate for March 2026
The BCREA Nowcast estimate for provincial economic growth, measured as year-over-year growth in real GDP, indicated 1.2 per cent increase in February 2026, improving upon the previous month, while remaining well below trend. By comparison, the Canadian economy saw a year-over-year growth of just 1 per cent in February. Our preliminary estimate for March suggests that year-over-year growth slowed further to just 0.2 per cent for BC, compared to 0.9 per cent for Canada.
On a regional level, growth appeared to pick up in all regions in February, with the exception of Vancouver Island. The Northern region remains the only area in a recessionary state as it continues building momentum towards flat growth.
